90210 – Season 2

leave a comment »

The second season of The CW's re-imagination of the 90s-teen-sensation aired during the TV season 2009/10

The second season focuses on the West Beverly Hills High group, as they begin their junior year and go through dramatic changes and surprises that will change their lives over and over. Annie (Shenae Grimes)  must deal with the consequences of the hit-and-run, when she finds out the man’s nephew goes to West Bev. Meanwhile, Naomi’s (AnnaLynne McCord) sister Jen (Sara Foster) continues to manipulate and use her for whatever she can; Dixon (Tristan Wilds) finds a new girlfriend; Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Kelly (Jennie Garth) must come to terms with devastating news; Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) begins a journey of independent and personal growth.

Episode 01: To New Beginnings!
I reviewed this episode last year, click here to read it. 6.5/10

Episode 02: To Sext or Not To Sext
Again, I reviewed this episode last year. Click here to read it. 7/10

Episode 03: Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat
Funny episode. I think the writers do Gossip Girl, too, because I see a lot of similar storylines and “idiocracy”. I only could laugh about the episode, especially Dixon’s little tete-a-tete with Sasha (Mekia Cox). Not only is it funny that she is way older, but he actually being a music exec and driving Navid’s (Michael Steger) car as if it was his own car was just totally hilarious. I just don’t understand why Silver didn’t take the opportunity and let Dixon run into a woman trap and end this whole joke. A thing about that: It was predictable that Sasha was the DJ on the boat and it was predictable that Silver and Sasha would meet after all.
The Annie/Naomi drama had an acceptable sequel here. Naomi still lying about sending the picture, Annie trying to destroy her as well as Naomi trying to destroy Annie and everybody is watching. With the exception of Liam (Matt Lanter), he seems to have a “plan” which involves blueprints… What is he going to do? Blow up the school building?
Harry (Rob Estes) and Kelly… Hm, something is starting. Finally, so Harry and Debbie (Lori Loughlin) get a story of their own. Marriage problems, could be fun.
The upcoming Adrianna/Teddy (Trevor Donovan)/Navid drama… Well, I have no interest in that, because I actually like Ad and Navid as a couple (and Teddy is a shitty character anyway), so I hope this story ain’t coming. 6.5/10

90210: To Sext or Not To Sext

You asked for it (respectively my blog stats are saying that), so I will continue. 90210 had its 26th episode this night and well well well… some interesting implications. Seriously, if the series holds this, I might actually like the second season.

90210: To New Beginnings!

with one comment

Mhkay, let’s say it this way: It wasn’t that bad, it wasn’t that good either, but at least it was a good teen soap season opener with a few new characters, a few new stories coming up, a few new rivals, broken relationships, still existing relationships short before breaking and all the other typical teen drama stuff. But let’s start from the beginning.

90210 – Season 1

“You wanna live in the zip, you’ve gotta live by the code.”
Based on the 1990s FOX hit, Beverly Hills, 90210, the series revolves around the three-generational Wilson family. The Wilsons have recently moved from small town Kansas to glitzy Beverly Hills, California after the father, Harry Wilson (Rob Estes), accepts a position as Principal of West Beverly Hills High School.
The new 90210 looks at life through the eyes of Annie Wilson (Shenae Grimes) and her brother Dixon (Tristan Wilds), whose first day at West Beverly Hills High School leaves no doubt they’re not in Kansas anymore.

Episode 01: We’re Not in Kansas Anymore
I wanted to hate the show when it started. The CW trying to find its audience in bored and spoiled teenager girls, wanting the male audience out of their range. But the pilot is actually really good for finding it bad. The characters are alright, the stories are of a typical teenie soap shows and some stories already have an ending, after 40 minutes. I don’t compare 90210 with the original series, which I am watching parallel btw., but there are some similarities. A lot of stereotypes and some actors I can’t stand. It just didn’t felt like a pilot, everything went too fast. Like the pilot episode of the original series. Oh, now I compared… 6,5/10
