Big Lake: Also Known As “Big Pile Of Crap”
Comedy Central showed once again that not all comedy is good comedy. The premiere of their newest sitcom Big Lake, starring some faces from Saturday Night Live and a veteran actor, was mostly unsatisfying, unfunny and eyesrolling – a lot. I am not really proficient, when it comes to Comedy Central’s original programming and TV shows, but I would have expected a lot more from this show. Big Lake could have been a nice sitcom about three friends being three big friends, doing a lot of stuff together, screwing things up, being so nerdy that no women will land in their beds. But instead it tries to be comical with a real story, but miserably fails with the attempt. Maybe the show is too intelligent to show a handful of “stupid” characters, maybe the show is too stupid to work my intellectual brain, or maybe the show is both. But the first two episodes reviewed here, “Josh Comes Home” (1×01) and “Lee Harvey Osworld” (1×02) were just ridiculous, unfunny, awkward, badly acted and I didn’t know where to laugh.
