Pilot Review: $#*! MY DAD SAYS
There were a lot of negative comments about CBS’ new try on the next multicam-sitcom, and even though I can understand those comments, I kinda don’t want to go with them. I thought I would hated the 21 minutes of “turning a Twitter account into a TV series”, thinking that his was a horrendous idea to do this, especially on a network broadcaster, who can’t even get much into the shit dad is saying all the time. Shit My Dad Says is practically a failed attempt to bring a funny sitcom into the idiot box, wanting to tell us that fathers can be funny, or something. Well, at least that’s what the critics were saying. But after watching the pilot, I was quite surprised about me not hating it like I wanted to. I was actually laughing a couple of times, and I believe that the father/son relationship in the series could be interesting, when the writers boldly go where a sitcom barely went before: character scenes. Or to say it in a shorter version: I liked it. It just doesn’t mean that it was stellar and good.
