Past Life: Why I Was Laughing Throughout The Pilot Episode

"In my past life, I was Communications Director in the White House." - "I don't give a fuck."

It really was a laughable waste of time.
Dr. Kate McGinn and former NYPD detective Price Whatley are conquering the world of reincarnated people, just to solve their deaths in their earlier lifes. Take a 14-year-old boy for example: He was a girl in his earlier life. This girl was killed. Now the boy has memories about that murder. Time for McGinn and Whatley to step in, catch the killer, and give the boy a happy ending.

Muhaha – that was my first reaction to the series plot of FOX’s new crime show Past Life. I couldn’t even begin to think, how this series got a pick-up for a pilot or even six more episodes. How could this idea of a series be so stupid and illogical, so whacky and nuts? How did anybody had the idea to adapt the book “The Reincartionist” by M. J. Rose as a series? Let’s ask series creator David Hudgins.
“She [Oprah] was doing a series on [reincarnation], with Dr. Oz and this guy named Brian Weiss, who’s probably the foremost expert in past-life regression,” Hudgins says. “And she did a couple of shows where she brought people on and regressed them, and the way people responded to it really struck me. [I thought] ‘This is absolutely fascinating. I don’t know if I believe in it or not, but there is a world here and there are a ton of stories you can tell.’” (Click here for more)
Well, I wished he didn’t watch Oprah in his past life… And to all future series creators: Don’t get your ideas from Oprah!
