Sons of Tucson – Season 1

leave a comment »

The only season of the FOX comedy aired between March and August 2010.

Gary (Frank Dolce), Brandon (Matthew Levy) and Robby (Benjamin Stockham), three wealthy young brothers, hire Ron Snuffkin (Tyler Labine) to pose as their father, when their real one goes to prison for committing a white collar crime. Ron is forced to step into the patriarch role of the Gunderson family, and at first, the boys just need a father in specific situations, but then they find they have to keep Ron around to shake off suspicions. It is Ron’s chance to display different skills and tricks to keep the family going.

Episode 01: Pilot
The pilot episode aired during the funeral of the midseason 2010. Click here to read it. 7/10

Episode 02: The Break In
The episode was surprisingly good, and I hope the writers start a few running gags with this one. Especially Gary’s stress management – I was lying on the ground, after Ron stormed in the house to save the kids from the burglarer. And maybe the writers are managing to write the characters Angela (Sarayu Rao) and Glenn (Joe Lo Truglio) as supporting characters, since I was rofl’ing about their marriage “problems”, even though all of this was more than ridiculous. That Glenn found his kicks while breaking and entering was okay, but not really funny. That Brandon thought Glenn would be a vampire was lame, that Robby wanted to kill the burglarer with his high-tech crossbow with a not functional safety was hilarious though.
The rest was partly interesting, Tyler Labine and the kids can be funny, and I was thinking it would get boring with the seconde episode. I was surprised that this isn’t happening. 7.5/10

Sons of Tucson: Slutty, Open-Mouthed, Horny, Dull and Fake Dad for Infantile, Open-Mouthed and Wealthy Three Kids

That's actually the inside of a home-owned freezer.

Do you like the title of this post? Well, I do, so duh.
FOX’s new comedy series is very simple: Three wealthy young brothers hire the chaotic Ron Snuffkin to pose as their father, when their real one goes to prison for committing a white collar crime and there is no mother in sight to fill the missing parent slot. Of course the three kids are chaotic on their own, and therefore the connection Ron/three kids is pretty genius. At least for the writers of this show.
