Treme 1.01: Do You Know What It Means?

The last honor for a dead friend: The musicians of New Orleans do their thing.
HBO is about to get back to its old strengths. “How to Make it in America” obviously was a successful Entourage ripoff without any signs of Hollywood (still have to watch that show), “The Pacific” is a high-profile miniseries, which wants to copy the success of “Band of Brothers”, “Boardwalk Empire” is going to be a high-profile series, which wants to copy the success of “The Sopranos”; and here we have the southern state drama “Treme”, which tells the story of New Orleans three months after hurricane Katrina.
FOX already tried to show the aftermath of the city’s chaos in their action crime show “K-Ville”, after 10 aired and 11 produced episodes, FOX canceled this show and was never heard of after it again ( I have to confess, I quite liked this show, thanks to Anthony Anderson, but I don’t miss it); New Orleans itself tried to get over the catastrophe and was quite often in the view of the US citizens and production crews (here is an interesting article about that), and now it is again the main attraction of another US TV series. This time it is HBO, this time it seems the writers and producers want to get everything from a troubled city after a hurricane. And this time, they again kinda failed with delivering an interesting story.
